Homeschool Support
We are not just a full-time microschool! We also offer a two or three-day academic option to support homeschooling families. As our philosophy of education and many of our curriculum choices overlap with that of many homeschool families, we’ve created a way to support local homeschoolers who are looking to expand learning opportunities. Students receive instruction in Math, Language Arts, Literature, Science, History, Geography, Folksong, Folk-dance, Composer Study, Picture Study, Nature Study, and Handicrafts on the days they attend Laurel. On their off days, we require students to keep pace with the lessons taught in their math and reading classes.
We see this as an excellent option for families who want to homeschool but are unable to do so full-time or who desire their child to experience learning in a more structured setting alongside their homeschool experience.
Programs and Tuition
Traditional 5-day: Students receive a robust academic curriculum including but not limited to instruction in Math, Language Arts, Literature, Science, History, Geography, Folksong, Folk-dance, Composer Study, Picture Study, Nature Study, and Handicrafts. Our Friday is comprised of hands-on education utilizing the STEM format. We’ve welcomed a veteran science teacher, an Internet technology professional, a general contractor, and others to help teach hands-on, real-life educational experiences. Handicraft continues our hands-on education with past ideas such as embroidery, leatherwork, paper making, and more!
Homeschool Support options*: Monday and Tuesday: Students who attend part-time will study typical academic subjects with their peers on the days they attend Laurel.
Home learning days: Wednesday and Thursday: On their home education days, we request that students keep pace with lessons for math and reading so they can easily rejoin their peers when they return to Laurel.
+Friday option: Our Friday option opens up the world of dedicated, hands-on experiences including ethnic studies, which we call Acts 17 (biblically based to emphasize that we are created as one race and should celebrate unique ethnic differences for the glory of God alone), Solomon’s Hour (research, writing and public speaking), STEM, and handicrafts.
*Students enrolled in our part-time homeschooler options must be registered as homeschooled with their local school district. Parents of part-time students retain responsibility for their child’s education.

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them.” In that same spirit, Laurel Community School believes that cost should not prevent parents who want their children to receive a robust, Christian education from sending their child to our school. If you wish to enroll in the full-time program and believe you may need help with tuition, please let us know during the initial visit.
