A Typical Day
Our doors open at 8:40 am. Our school day begins at 9 am with Morning Gathering, which consists of prayer, a hymn, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Christian and American Flags, and Scripture memory. From there, students have lessons in Bible, Language Arts, Math, History/Geography, Science, and Physical Education/Health. Our curriculum also includes Spanish, Picture Study, Composer Study, Shakespeare, Nature Study, and Handicrafts.
Students enjoy a mid-morning snack. At lunch, everyone eats together as a school family. Students spend 30 minutes outdoors for recess.
Our day concludes with students doing classroom chores to build a sense of community.
Fridays our core curriculum is replaced with extra-curricular lessons and activities. We engage in Solomon’s Hour, a time for students to research a topic of their choice with teacher support. We have guests teachers from various ethnic backgrounds come in to share information about the history and culture of their people group. This is inspired by Acts 17:26, “And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.” Our students study Spanish, Latin, and Greek root words.
Friday afternoon is devoted to STEM activities, music appreciation, and handicrafts, and/or gardening.
Friday is also field trip day. Our goal is to schedule at least six excursions each year.
Once a week, we attend a 30-minute chapel service.
